Purchases are calculated as total credit purchases less sales credits (i.e returns) and adjustments during a statement period. Excludes cash advances (including bills paid over the counter at a bank, financial institution or post office and purchases of travellers cheques) or when the card is used as a debit card to access linked accounts or transactions we decide are wholly or partly for a business purpose. Also excludes fees and charges (including government fees and charges), interest charges, transactions which are disputed, fraudulent or involve abuse of your credit card account, payments and purchases which are refunded or reimbursed.

How to join FlyBuys

If you aren’t already a FlyBuys member, call the FlyBuys Service Centre on 13 1116, 9am – 7pm EST, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) or register online at flybuys.com.au. Once registered you can link your new DEFCOM MasterCard by filling in a FlyBuys Request to Link form found at nab.com.au at any NAB branch, or by calling NAB's Customer Service Centre on 13 22 65.

Interest and Repayments

Keeping track of your savings and expenses is easy with your DEFCOM Protectors MasterCard. You'll receive a fully itemised statement showing all your transactions each month, and among other information, the minimum amount you need to pay.

You only need to pay the minimum payment by the due date shown on your statement. Should you choose to spread your repayments over several statement periods rather than paying the closing balance of the statement by the due date, you'll be charged interest on purchases from the date they are debited to your account until the account is paid in full. Interest-free days are reinstated when the closing balance on your statement is paid in full by the due date.

In the case of cash advances, interest is calculated daily from the date the cash advance is charged to your account until it is repaid in full. Full details on charges and interest calculation will be provided upon approval of your application.

Identification

If you aren't already a NAB customer, you'll need to visit one of our branches with 100 points of identification to open an account. This can include:

Passport (70 Points)
Birth certificate (70 Points)
Non-National credit card (25 Points)
Driver's Licence (40 Points)
Medicare card (25 points)

Evidence of income

When applying, you'll also need to provide proof of income (e.g. your latest salary advice, tax return or a letter from your employer), and place of residence (e.g. a rates notice, or rental agreement).

Commission
DEFCOM Pty Ltd (ABN 55 010 906 699) will receive a commission from NAB of $5 when your new DEFCOM Protectors MasterCard is activated and issued. When purchases are paid for using your DEFCOM Protectors MasterCard, a commission of 0.16% is paid on the monthly turnover value of net retail purchase transactions (excluding cash advances).
